The Remedy

And if you give yourself to the hungry,
And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
Then your light will rise in darkness,
And your gloom will become like midday.
-Isaiah 58:10

Wow. There it is in scripture, plain and simple: the remedy for feeling sorry for myself is in helping others.

Now I just have to get to a point where I want to stop feeling sorry for myself. Because wallowing in my misery is, somehow, very appealing.

I'll let you know how it goes...

...When you're ready, AND if you feel God's leading, I encourage you to check out Mission Waco. They do some great stuff here in town. I've worked with the homeless here through my church and MW programs for a number of years. I started out thinking I was the one ministering. How wrong I was. The individuals I've "helped" over the years have so blessed me in amazing ways.--Cindy Little (I work w/Terrill)

I love this passage and have been spending time meditating on it lately. Now as I do so, I'll be praying it over you. Thanks for sharing. Love, abby
